You may wish to call your insurance company to check the amount of unused coverage for this calendar year and start planning your visits now.

The End of Insurance Year is near for those whose insurance coverage runs by a calendar year.  If you are not sure if you still have unused coverage left for this year, you may want to contact your insurance company to check your balance.

Keep in mind that insurance companies will not transfer any unused coverage to the next year.  When planning your appointments before the end of the year, please consider our Holiday Schedule in December.  Our clinic will be closed after December 24^th.

As we informed you in our previous newsletter, as of July 1, 2010 the 13% HST has been implemented into our fees.  Please rest assured that our actual massage fees (the net cost before tax) remain the same.

We have always been committed to providing top-notch registered massage therapy services for a reasonable price.  Our fees for massage services remain lower than the 2010 fee guideline recommended by the Registered Massage Therapists Association of Ontario (RMTAO) and are significantly lower than those at many spas in downtown Toronto. If you have insurance coverage and your insurance company has not yet adjusted the coverage amount (they often refer to it as the “reasonable and customary” fee per visit) with the implemented HST, now is a good time to talk to your adjuster and inform them of the new fee guideline issued by the RMTAO, which is $82.00 plus HST per one-hour visit.

For most of our clients, December marks the end of insurance year; therefore, many people try very hard to book as many appointments as possible before the year’s end.  If you would like to spare yourself the stress of squeezing in several appointments in December, please consider scheduling your regular visits now to give yourself more time for shopping and fun during the holiday season.

Some extended health insurance policies have a fixed policy year different from the calendar year ending on December 31. For example, University of Toronto Green Shield plans have a year end of June 30.

Typically, unused insurance benefits cannot be transferred to the next policy year.

Our services such as massage therapy, shiatsu, and reflexology are covered by most employee benefits. We are one of the very few clinics in Toronto that offer direct insurance billing.

1. Call your insurance company to check the amount of unused coverage.
2. If you are planning to have therapeutic sessions longer than one hour, find out from your insurance company if there is a daily limit on the duration and total cost of the visit.
3. Keep in mind that insurance companies will not reimburse you for visits that are scheduled for the next year. Unused coverage may not be transferred to the next year.

There will only be three weeks in December for appointments as our clinic will be closed from December 25th to January 2nd for the holidays.
